Rayburn

Which Rayburn do I Have?

Rayburn models have changed names over the years. The Rayburn ROYAL directly replaced the No3. The Rayburn ROYAL then became the 212S, before changing its name to the current 212 SFW. The Rayburn SUPREME evolved into the NOUVELLE (solid fuel), then the 355S, followed by the 355M, and finally took the name 355SFW. Meanwhile, the SUPREME OIL became the NOUVELLE OIL and then the Rayburn 368K. The Rayburn MF (Multi Fuel) transformed into the 216M and then the 216SFW. The manufacturer has stopped producing the Rayburn REGENT, which originally replaced the Rayburn No1.

Aga’s Rayburn No. 1 was produced between 1946 and 1958, the Rayburn No. 1 is a single-oven cooker characterized by its lack of a hot plate lid. It was built with the oven on either the left or right side and is found in two distinct styles: the Old Pattern, featuring a flat grate and independent doors, and the New Pattern, which utilizes a circular riddling grate and interlocking doors.

The Rayburn No. 2 was manufactured from 1940 to 1950. It features two ovens located on either the left or right side. This model lacks a hot plate lid but was available with an optional plate rack and splashback. You can distinguish between versions by the doors: the Old Pattern has independent fire and ashpit doors, while the New Pattern features interlocking doors. All No. 2 models are equipped with a flat grate.

Rayburn No. 3 was built between 1950 and 1958. It is a two-oven model featuring a single hot plate lid and ovens positioned on either the left or right. It is identified by its circular riddling grate and interlocking doors.

The Rayburn Regent (1958–1990s) replaced the No. 1 as a single-oven model with the oven positioned on either side. It has a circular riddling grate, interlocking doors, and a single hot plate lid. You can date a Regent by its handles: vertical on early units and horizontal on those manufactured from the 1970s onwards.

The Rayburn Royal (212S/212SFW) is still in production, from 1958 to the present. It has two ovens and is built for either left- or right-hand operation. Notable for its interlocking safety doors and circular riddling grate, the model has seen several design updates, such as the introduction of twin insulating lids in 1968 and a shift from vertical to horizontal door handles in the 1970s.

The Rayburn Royal MF (1979–Present) has two ovens and is distinguished by its multi-fuel grate system, consisting of seven individual grate | fire bars. Available as a left- or right-hand unit, it comes standard with twin hot plate lids (with chrome versions available since the 90s) and interlocking safety doors.

The Rayburn Supreme / Nouvelle series, and the 355SFW and 345SFW models, has been in production since 1980. Unlike earlier models, these are right-hand oven units only. They are distinguished by a multi-fuel system using 11 individual grate | fire bars, interlocking safety doors, and dual insulating lids—which were also available in a chrome-plated finish.
